HDS Retail awarded two stores at Vancouver International Airport

HDS Retail, North America, is pleased to announce that it has been selected as the leading proponent to provide a Newsstand Concession and a Bookstore Concession in the International Terminal Building at Vancouver International Airport.

Located after the security checkpoint, the two stores are part of the retail program in a brand new area of the concourse that will become the core of the West Chevron expansion in the International Terminal Building. The two retail stores are situated in front of a thematic feature of British Columbia, a reproduction of a natural creek's surroundings with actual water feature that will also showcase work from local artists. This area of the airport is expected to become a landmark in a facility already famous for its art collection and natural scenery installations.

Operating under VIRGIN Books & Music and RELAY, the two stores are expected to operate as a combination store representing a 2,500 and occupy a total footprint of close to 2,500 square feet (227.2 m 2 ). The stores will open in the first quarter of 2007 and will service passengers traveling overseas from Vancouver and Canada, including visitors from around the world during the highly anticipated 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
