Each year HDS Retail embarks on a campaign in December to raise awareness and funding for a non-profit organization and for the second year in a row, the 2006 RELAY Campaign will be supporting the MAKE-A-WISH Foundation. Through the Foundation, wishes are granted to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.

The 2006 RELAY Campaign will run from December 1, 2006 through December 31, 2006 in all HDS Retail stores across Canada and the United States participating as well as the home office in Toronto & NYC. Gerry Savaria, EVP Business Development/Corporate Marketing for HDS Retail and Brigitte Tschinkel Director, Corporate Development, Make-A-Wish Foundation, officially launched the campaign on Friday, December 1st at the JOURNO location downtown Toronto where numerous staff gathered wearing t-shirts and buttons in support of the worthy cause.
HDS Retail stores will be displaying several components of the campaign including 3-sided hanging signs, wobblers and cash displays. Field staff will be wearing buttons throughout the month of December and T-shirts on Fridays. Head office staff will be wearing buttons and t-shirts on Fridays to support the cause.

All stores will have donation boxes and will be selling Blue Bracelets for $2.00 each. Stores in Canada will also be selling a MAKE-A-WISH book while Virgin locations will be selling Children's CD's. Head office staff will be contributing as well by selling MAKE-A-WISH dolls for $10.

Most importantly HDS Retail will be repeating MAKE-A-WISH day whereby 1% of total store sales across North America achieved on December 22nd, the company's single busiest day of the year, will go back to the foundation!

The 2006 RELAY Campaign will undoubtedly become another successful HDS Retail event in support of a great cause!
